“Giant Land Crab” aka Blue Land Crab (Cardisoma guanhumi)
A huge (15+ cm) land crab along a path in the Pine Flatwoods of Jonathan Dickinson State Park, FL, USA, no where near salt water!
(photo/text: Bob Peterson)
* Like most land crabs, this species is an opportunistic omnivore, and they must return to the sea to mate. Their larvae live in the ocean until they develop enough to come onto land. They are wide spread along the atlantic coast from southern florida to south america.

The “glass frogs” of Central and South American are remarkable for their translucent skin, but I find their eyes equally fascinating. The photo above is from National Geographic Daily, and the one below fromAnimal Planet.
