Dolores Del Raye (aka. Dolores Pastor) was a very famous stripper during the 1950’s.. By 1957, she was chosen by ‘ADAM Magazine’ as one of their “Top Ten” performers in all of North America.. She was not from Mexico or Brazil.. But born in Washington, DC; in 1934.. Took ballet classes as a child. And studied ‘modern dance’ while attending ‘Anacostia High School’..
A theatrical agent spotted Dolores working at a D.C.-area bank, and suggested a career in Burlesque.. At the age of 19, she made her debut at ‘Murray’s ShowBar’ in nearby Baltimore, Maryland.. “Savage” was used as an adverb by ‘CABARET Magazine’ to describe the ferocity of her performances.. Most likely because she often used a bull whip during some of her dances. A singularly unique phenomenon, at the time!
Well, I hope that that’s enough [content] for you, Jim Linderman?!..
A very young Jessica Rogers poses for a pinup photo.. Eventually, she’d become known as Burlesque’s “WOW Girl”!..
