Professional surfer Keala Kennelly after slamming her face into the reef at Tahiti’s Teahupo’o surf break, a very shallow reef that fetches some of the heaviest swells in the world, where most people wouldn’t dare surf. The wave is a hollow, grinding, left-handed barrel that almost ensures danger, even for the likes of Miss Kennelly. It could have been worse.
